Analytics Engineer to our Platform Team!
We're building an entirely new system while migrating from legacy infrastructure, making this an exciting time to join and make a significant impact.
About the Role
We're looking for a hands-on Analytics Engineer to join our newly formed Platform Team. This is a builder role where you'll help design and implement data infrastructure from scratch while serving as a critical bridge between our technical platform and business stakeholders. You'll be instrumental in building and maintaining our data infrastructure as we migrate to MongoDB Atlas and modernize our entire data platform.
As part of the Platform Team, you'll work alongside senior DevOps engineers to create a unified, serverless platform that powers our operations. You'll contribute to the data layer while collaborating closely with the Chief Architect on the broader platform architecture. This is a unique opportunity to shape the data architecture at an early and exciting stage of our platform evolution.
We're building an entirely new system while migrating from legacy infrastructure, making this an exciting time to join and make a significant impact.
Key responsibilities
- Build and maintain production data pipelines and automated reporting systems using Python and AWS services
- Help teams design and implement NoSQL data models, including migration from SQL to NoSQL architectures for our MongoDB Atlas platform
- Design solutions for integrating third-party system data into the platform
- Partner with customer support, sales, operations, and C-suite to deliver actionable metrics and insights from operational data
- Ensure data security, compliance, and implement monitoring/observability solutions
- Provide statistical analysis to drive business decisions across the organization
- Architect scalable data solutions that support both real-time and batch processing needs
- Define data retention strategies and optimize storage/query performance
- Contribute to and influence telemetry and metrics collection across our platform
- Act as the data liaison between technical and non-technical teams
About you
You're a pragmatic engineer who thrives at the intersection of technology and business. You're the kind of person who doesn't wait for someone else to build the tools you need - you build them yourself. You enjoy creating robust data systems that real people can use, not just one-off analyses.
You're equally comfortable writing Python scripts as you are explaining data insights to a sales manager or C-suite executive. You take pride in creating scalable, reliable systems that make life easier for others, but you also understand that the best data infrastructure is worthless if stakeholders can't use it effectively. You see stakeholder communication not as a distraction from "real work" but as a core part of your role. You thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift quickly, and you balance independence with a strong sense of ownership and teamwork.
We're looking for someone who has
- At least 5 years of experience in data/analytics/engineering roles
- Production Python experience (not just notebooks - actual data pipeline code)
- Strong SQL skills and understanding of NoSQL concepts
- At least 3 years hands-on experience with AWS services (Lambda, S3, Athena, or similar)
- Experience with Git and version control in a collaborative environment
- Proven track record of stakeholder collaboration - you've regularly worked with non-technical teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions
- Experience building production data pipelines and automated reporting systems
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders
- Experience communicating metrics and statistics to diverse teams (sales, support, operations)
- Experience with monitoring and observability platforms (Datadog, Splunk, New Relic, or similar)
- Comfortable working with operational data
Highly value if you also have experience in
- MongoDB or similar NoSQL database experience
- MongoDB Atlas platform knowledge specifically
- Experience with SQL to NoSQL migrations
- TypeScript or Go programming languages
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi - we use Pulumi)
- DevOps practices and tools
- Experience in serverless architectures
- Knowledge of event-driven data processing
- Logistics or supply chain industry experience
- Experience working in scale-up environments (50-200 person companies)
