About the Role

We're seeking an experienced, hands-on Senior DevOps Engineer to join our Platform Team during a critical transformation period. You'll be instrumental in maintaining our legacy systems while driving our migration to a modern, serverless architecture. This role requires someone who values pragmatism over complexity and can make smart trade-off decisions at different stages of our journey.

You'll work within the DevOps wing of our Platform Team, reporting to our DevOps Lead and collaborating closely with a data engineer and other platform team members to build and maintain the platform that supports our development team and entire logistics operation. We're in an exciting phase of building new systems while maintaining critical operations, making this perfect for someone who enjoys both stability and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead infrastructure initiatives while supporting both legacy systems and new platform development
• Design and implement event-driven, serverless architectures on AWS
• Manage containerized applications using ECS and related technologies
• Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code practices across the organization
• Ensure robust security practices including IAM management and compliance
• Handle critical infrastructure components (DNS, networking, database scaling, message brokers)
• Support and mentor developers on platform best practices
• Balance pragmatic solutions with long-term architectural goals
• Develop and improve processes for continuous platform evolution
• Continuous development and maintenance of our CI/CD pipelines and practices

We're looking for someone who has

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with AWS (EC2, S3, VPC, ALBs, Security groups, Lambda AWS Gateway)
• At least 2 years hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Pulumi preferred but other tools are also welcomed, terraform, CDK)
• Deep knowledge of containerisation
• Proven experience with event-driven systems and architectures
• Experience with monitoring and observability platforms (Datadog, Splunk, New Relic, or similar)
• Experience working in scale-up or smaller companies
• Track record of working effectively in small, autonomous teams
• Strong security mindset with IAM and IAM Identity Center experience 
• Systematic problem-solving approach with attention to details
• Humble attitude with respect for existing systems and infrastructure changes
• Experience of modern CI/CD practices and development
• Solid understanding of: 
  • Networking concepts and implementation
  • Database scaling (vertical and horizontal)
  • Message brokers (RabbitMQ or similar) 
  • Caching systems (Redis or similar)

High value of if you also bring

• Go programming language 
• ECS on the AWS platform
• Pulumi experience (Terraform or CloudFormation also valuable) 
• MongoDB Atlas platform knowledge 
• Compliance and regulatory experience 
• Logistics or supply chain industry experience
